The Love of Dance

Remember Maddie? She was featured on my blog a couple of weeks ago…. I photographed her senior session at Williams High School, capturing her love of dance and theater.  Well, I had the privilege once again to capture her in action during Burlington Dance Center‘s Spring Concert. She was beautiful, as always!

The first photo was taken during the The Tiny Seed, a dance adapted from the children’s book.

The rest of the photos are from the dance Blackbirds….

And it was stunning. Poignant. A farewell. The dance of seniors preparing to fly away….

She and fellow dancer/friend, Natalie, blew us all away.

I could sense their excitement…their joy. I could also sense the bittersweet connected with letting go and saying good-bye. Every leap…every movement…was charged with emotion.

It’s moments like these that drive me. Capturing something that happens in a split second, in the blink of an eye….and freezing it in time. The moment is gone..but the memory remains. Forever.

Keep dancing, Blackbirds….

Keep dancing…
